Led by Houston Symphony Musical Ambassador Carlos Andrés Botero, Lunada, presented by The Mexican Institute of Greater Houston, now in its 11th year, celebrates a night under the full moon. This annual cultural event is reminiscent of those held in small towns and pueblos in Mexico, where community members come together to share music, poetry and stories.
This year’s Lunada celebrates the wide diversity of the musical influences from Spain and Latin America. Hear works that reflect the old world and new including works from Mexican, Venezuelan, Uruguayan, Nicaraguan, Brazilian, Spanish and Colombian composers. Colombian vocalist Blas Canedo Gonzalez will also sing with the Symphony.
This is a ticketed event for the covered seating area. Free tickets are available (4 per person over age 16 while they last) at the Miller Outdoor Theatre box office the day of the performance between the hours of 10:30am-1pm. If tickets remain at 1pm, the box office will re-open one hour before the concert time to distribute the remaining tickets. As always, there is open seating on the hill.
